This lighthouse is at the end of the Dungeness Spit, near Sequim, Washington.  If I remember right, the sandspit is around 6 miles long, and to get to the lighthouse, you have to hike it.  We were lucky, it was still in use by the Coast Guard and the Coastie who lived there took us out in a 4 wheel drive vehicle.  I was very glad, as I had falled just a few weeks before and badly injured an ankle.  The Spit is beautiful, and worth the hike, I'm sure.  We walked around the whole end of the Spit over acres it seemed of driftwood, and just offshore, sea lions accompanied us on our hike, keeping an eye on us.
Our first veiw of this lighthouse was from the parking lot of the Three Crabs Restaurant in Sequim.  It looked like the lighthouse was floating in the sea, far off.  The seafood is great at the Three Crabs.  We've eaten there several times and never been disappointed.
