Kilauea Point is so famous, but this other lighthouse on Kauai is
sometimes overlooked.
We have been told by Tom
Dutton, Coast Guard Aids to Navigation in Honolulu, that Nawiliwili
, although built at the same time as Barbers Point, never had a
lantern room. Some old photos show some kind of structure on
top of both lighthouses, but I think the term used was "lantern
deck".

I ran
across this photo of Nawiliwili on the Coast Guard site.
I do not believe this shows a lantern room, but a "lantern
deck"
as someone in the CG Aids to Navigation called it.
As you can see, the light is on top. |
