Farallon Islands

Although this is called
Farallon Island Lighthouse,
it is on South Farallon.

It took us two
years of letter writing and
phone calls to get out to the Farallon Islands.
We had to access the island by going from the
trawler we took from Sausalito, then to a 10 foot
Boston Whaler, then getting onto a swinging
platform that was lowered from the cliff.
Pretty scary and pretty exciting. It's one of
those things I'm glad I did, but not too sure I'd want
to do it again.
