Sandra at Morris Island.
We went over from the mainlaid in a boat at low tide so
 that we could go ashore on theSand Bar.  When the tide
is high, there is no island or sand showing.

This great photo of Morris Island Light was sent to
us from Lighthouse Friend Bill Selby.
It shows the work going on at Morris Island but it
also shows the lighthouse is leaning.  And I
really like the fact that the photo shows the
lighthouse at Sullivan's Island, that took the place
of the Morris Island Light.
 

Morris Island lighthouse is in bad shape, and at this time there is a group committed
 to restoring and caring for it.  Go to our Links page and check on:
Save the Morris Island Light.  It will tell their progress.
This lighthouse at one time was on a good sized island with keeper's houses, yards, gardens etc.
The ship channel was dredged wrong and eventually the water rushed in and washed
away everything on the island, except the lighthouse itself that is on a foundation.
