Cold Springs Harbor Lighthouse
was relocated from
its original
position nearby where it was atop
a caisson in the water.
It was moved by Mr. & Mrs. Glenn
and remains on the property they
owned then. In our search for
lighthouses, we discovered that
it was in a gated neighborhood.
We got special permissions from
Mrs. Glenn, known to the locals as
"Lady Glenn" to visit her and her
lighthouse. As you can see above,
she raised the flag in honor of our
visit and then fed us lemonade
and homemade cookies.
It was an honor to visit her, she
was so gracious and cheerful.
We heard that she died not long after. |
